About This Event

Join us for a special Asian Heritage Month Storytime with AEMS (Alliance of Educators for Muslim Students). We will be reading Sami’s Special Gift: An Eid al-Adha Story, a heartfelt picture book about a young boy named Sami who is excited for Eid but struggles when things don’t go the way he expected. Through his journey, Sami learns that Eid ul-Adha is not just about receiving, but about giving, caring, and thinking of others, especially those in need.

After reading, children will take part in a “Heart Messages” activity to reflect on Sami’s lesson. Each child will create a paper heart and write or draw a special gift they can give to someone else, such as helping at home, sharing with a friend, or saying kind words. The hearts can be decorated and shared aloud or displayed together to create a “wall/ dome of Kindness.” This activity reinforces the idea that the best gifts come from the heart and helps children connect the story to their own lives in a creative and meaningful way.
