About This Event
Join us for an engaging conversation with author Sandy Ho as she discusses No Way But Through: A Family Memoir of the Cantonese Diaspora, co‑written with her father.
This session explores how culture, language, and generational experiences shape communication and family dynamics. Drawing on lived experience and sociolinguistic insight, Sandy highlights the shared threads that connect many intergenerational families, including:
- Generational expectations — how differing life experiences create both connection and tension
- Cultural values in language — the ways speech, silence, and storytelling carry meaning
- Family communication patterns — how families navigate identity, belonging, and change
