About This Event
Eviction is one of the most stressful experiences a tenant can face, and misinformation often leaves tenants feeling powerless or forced to leave their homes unnecessarily. In Ontario, a landlord cannot evict a tenant without following strict legal steps, and many tenants are unaware that they have the right to stay in their home until due process is followed.
This workshop, Evictions – All You Need to Know, is designed to explain the eviction process under Ontario’s Residential Tenancies Act in plain language. We will cover common reasons landlords give for eviction, the different types of eviction notices, important timelines, and what happens at the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB). Participants will also learn how to respond to an eviction notice, what defenses may be available, and where to seek help or legal support.
By the end of this session, you will have a clearer understanding of your rights, your options, and the steps you can take to protect your housing. Knowledge is a powerful tool—especially when your home is at stake.
