Wednesday, March 4: America at the Edge of History: Expansion, power, and the fragile world order

This talk traces how the optimism of the post–Cold War era gave way to a renewed age of American expansion, military intervention, and great-power rivalry. Today’s fragile world order reflects long-standing tensions between liberal ideals and the realities of power. The lecture engages Prime Minister Mark Carney’s recent Davos address, which frames the present as a historic rupture and forces a reckoning with what may come after the American-led order.

Wednesday, March 18: Human-Animal Attachments in the Workplace: The rise and future of pet-friendly workplaces

Relationships between employees and their dogs are becoming increasingly meaningful as Millennials and Gen Z embrace pet ownership as a central part of their lifestyles. Organizations are being called to consider how these relationships shape work-life balance and employee well-being. This session explores why the human–canine bond presents a workplace issue worth addressing. We will examine strategies for fostering inclusion and well-being through dog-friendly practices.
