York Regional Police are increasing patrols and deploying command posts in Vaughan during the Jewish High Holidays.
York Regional Police will be increasing patrols and deploying Command Posts at strategic locations across the region. This initiative coincides with community members observing the Jewish High Holidays.
Officers may be seen near synagogues, other faith-based institutions, community centres, other gathering places, and in neighborhoods. Officers on patrol and stationed at Command Posts will be available to answer questions, take reports, and address resident concerns.
The police are collaborating with community safety, law enforcement, and intelligence partners at municipal, provincial, and federal levels. This collaboration focuses on proactively monitoring the situation to prevent hate-motivated activity.
Command Posts will be deployed at the JCC Vaughan Jewish Community Centre, Garnet A Williams Community Centre, and Promenade Mall on various dates from September 11 to October 10, operating from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on each scheduled day.
