Markham Village Film Festival 2026

Lights, Camera...Library! The Markham Public Library is rolling out the red carpet for its 2nd Annual 2-Minute Short Film Competition, and you're invited to be part of the action! Whether you like drama, action, horror or documentaries - The Markham Village Film Festival will have you entertained as ten of the best-chosen films will be screened to a live judging panel where they will determine the best short film in 2026. The ultimate winner will get a $50 Amazon Gift Card! 

Come for a live screening of the best 10 short film submissions, stay for the buzz: meet local creators, vote for your favourites, and enjoy an evening of cinematic magic—all made in Markham.

Doors Open At 5:30pm. There will also be FREE popcorn and drinks for all attendees! 

Key Dates:

• Submissions Open: Tuesday, August 4, 2026
• Last Day to Submit: Monday October 12th, 2026 by Midnight
• Pre-Screening Voting Period: Tuesday October 13-20th, 2026
• Film Festival Event: Wednesday, October 28th, 2026 | 6 – 8 PM
