If something isn’t working in the iPhone app, it helps to include your iPhone model, your iOS version and the app version (at the bottom of Settings in the app).
Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. The app and the website work without signing up. The app remembers your choices on your phone.
How do I change my areas or interests?
In the app, open Settings and tap Areas or Interests. You can also tap the area name at the top of Discover.
I’m not getting alerts
- In the app, open Settings and check that the alerts you want are turned on.
- If notifications show as off, open the iPhone Settings app, tap Notifications, then York Happening, and allow notifications.
Weekend picks arrive on Thursday evenings. School alerts go out the evening before a PA day and on weekday mornings when school buses are cancelled. Weather alerts follow Environment Canada warnings for the areas you follow.
How do reminders work?
Open an event and tap Remind to get a notification the day before, the morning of, or two hours before. Reminders are set on your phone, so they work even without an internet connection.
How do I join or leave the newsletter?
Join from Settings > Newsletter in the app, or from any signup form on this site. We email you a link to confirm before you receive anything. To leave, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter.
How do I delete my data?
In the app, open Settings and tap Delete my data. This removes your saved events and preferences from our servers and your phone. Deleting the app also removes its data from your phone. See our Privacy Policy for details.
An event is wrong or cancelled
Most listings come from local libraries and municipal event calendars, and each event page links to the original listing. Details can change, so check with the organizer before you go. If something is wrong, email [email protected] with a link to the event and we’ll correct it.
How do I add my event?
Community organizers can submit an event for free. We review every submission before it appears.
