York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses following a fatal hit and run collision in Vaughan.

On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at approximately 2 p.m., officers responded to reports of an unresponsive adult near Pine Valley Drive and Major Mackenzie Drive. A deceased woman was located in a forested area.

The investigation determined that on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the victim, a 60-year-old woman from Richmond Hill, was struck by a northbound vehicle on Pine Valley Drive after exiting a bus. She was walking northbound with a suitcase on her way to work as a live-in caregiver. The driver did not remain at the scene.

Police are reminding the public that assisting a suspect by concealing, repairing, or altering a vehicle to avoid detection may be a criminal offense. Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash-camera footage from the area between approximately 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on October 4, 2026, to come forward.
