York Regional Police have charged three men and one woman following an armed home invasion in Richmond Hill, with a fifth suspect still at large.
York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit investigators have charged three men and one woman in connection with an armed home invasion in Richmond Hill. A fifth suspect is currently being sought.
The incident occurred on September 7, 2026, shortly after 7 a.m., when officers responded to a weapons call at a residence near May Avenue and Yonge Street. Multiple suspects, armed with at least one firearm, reportedly forced entry, confronted, and assaulted the victim. During the assault, a firearm was discharged, but the victim was not struck. All suspects fled before police arrived. The victim was found outside the residence with serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a trauma centre.
A black Cadillac Escalade was identified as a suspect vehicle. With assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police Northumberland Detachment, the vehicle was stopped on Highway 401 in Cobourg, and the female driver, the sole occupant, was taken into custody. Investigators subsequently identified and apprehended three additional suspects. A search warrant executed at a Toronto residence resulted in the seizure of ammunition, a controlled substance, and Canadian currency.
The outstanding fifth suspect is described as a Black male, wearing a grey hoody, black pants, and white shoes. At the time of their arrests, one individual was on probation and subject to a weapons prohibition order, while another was wanted by the Service de police de la Ville de Montreal for unrelated offences. The investigation is ongoing.
