Police Seek Suspect in Two Vaughan Assaults

York Regional Police Hate Crime Unit investigators are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect following two hate-motivated assaults in Vaughan. On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers responded to an assault near Major Mackenzie Drive West and Amusement Drive. The suspect approached a victim, made a racial comment, and assaulted them before fleeing on foot.
On Thursday, June 11, 2026, at approximately 2:50 p.m., the same suspect approached another victim near Weston Road and Starling Boulevard. The suspect assaulted this victim and made a racial comment before fleeing on foot. Both victims sustained minor injuries. Investigators believe the victims were targeted based on their country of origin.
The suspect is described as male, South Asian, approximately 6 feet tall, with shoulder-length black hair, and a mustache with a soul patch. Investigators have released images of the suspect and are asking anyone who recognizes him, or has information or video from the areas, to come forward.
